We are
On Your Side is for anybody in the UK who identifies as part of an East or Southeast Asian community. This is the place you can find support and make a report if you experience or witness racism or any form of hate.
Why talk to us?
Whether you want to find local counselling services, are worried about what would happen if you decided to report to police, or you just want to talk to somebody who is on your side, our trained call handlers and support workers are here for you.
Unless there is exceptional risk to the safety of yourself or others, we will never pass anything you tell us to anybody else without your permission. That means you can find support from us whatever your circumstances.
Our helpline has trained call operators speaking many East and Southeast Asian languages. If you are not comfortable talking about your experience in English and our operators don’t have the language you need, we work with trusted interpreters who will interpret any language you need.
By telling us what happened to you, you help us build a picture of the experiences of East and Southeast Asian communities in the UK. The more we can learn about what is happening, the better we can prevent it happening to others.

I experienced aggression from a neighbour, resulting in the police charging them with racially aggravated assault. However, they also charged us with criminal damage based on false accusations, causing immense stress. On Your Side’s casework advocate helped with legal matters, emotional support, and court proceedings. Our charges were eventually dropped, and On Your Side continues to support us in fighting our case!
My son experienced persistent bullying at school because of his race, and the school wasn’t addressing it seriously. When I reached out to On Your Side, they promptly assigned a casework advocate. They reported and followed up on incidents with the police, organised school meetings, and offered emotional support and resources for my son’s well-being. Is this service for me?
On Your Side is for anyone in the UK who identifies as East and Southeast Asian, including people with mixed heritage. It is also for anyone who is perceived by others to be East and Southeast Asian and witnesses of hate towards East and Southeast Asians from any background.
This is the place to find support and make a report if you experience or witness racism or any other form of hate. This could include verbal harassment in person or online, criminal damage such as graffiti, or physical violence perpetrated because of hostility against an aspect (or assumed aspect) of a person’s identity such as their race, gender, religion, disability, sexuality, or political beliefs.
No matter how small or trivial you think it might be, we are here to listen and support.

This service has been funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through the HKBN(O) Welcome Programme. The service is run by a consortium of charity and non-profit organisations and operates completely independently of the UK Government. Unless there is exceptional risk to your safety, or the safety of others, no data you share will ever be given to any other agency without your full and informed consent.
When you report an incident,
you become part of the movement to stop it.
You can remain entirely anonymous, and share as little or as much detail with us as you like. We won’t share any personal information with anyone else without your full and informed consent.
