Solidarity statement and resources in response to the recent far-right attacks

Over the past few days the streets of Britain have seen a surge in coordinated racist and islamophobic violence. We have seen rioters targeting mosques and hotels hosting people seeking asylum, organised identity-based intimidation, destruction of public property, and civil unrest.

The coordinated racist and islamophobic violence over the last week will provoke a surge in all forms of identity-based discrimination and hate crime. The attacks against Filipino NHS nurses in Sunderland were dreadful example of this. On Your Side is ready to support our ESEA communities who have been affected by such violence.

We at On Your Side are appalled by and unequivocally condemn the violence being committed by the far-right in the UK. We stand in solidarity with those who have been affected and all communities across the UK who have been made to feel unsafe.

ESEA communities make up over a quarter of the world’s Muslim population. If you have been affected by any of the actions of the last week, be it through verbal intimidation, harassment, or physical violence, please know that you can reach out to our free service for support at any time.
